She sews and scraps

still sewing....

Since I got my new machine, well not yesterday but hopefully later today.... :)

Here is a couple of table runners I have done, I LOVE this first one, it's so bright and cheery and I love the outline quilting I did on it, I KNOW I will be doing a quilt version of this one.

Here is one I started with my old machine that I never finished but now that I have the new machine I tried out my stippling with the stitch regulator, I have a lot to learn but not bad being my first time :) this table runner is SMALL though, I am not crazy about the size but it's still pretty.

and here is the stippling (I guess true stippling is a lot closer together than this, but I tried!)

My cat thinks I made it for her (poor kitty, she is putting on the weight!)

 

I also sewed the cutest bag for my mom, of course I forgot to take a picture of it before I gave it to her, but I loved it so much that I have to make one for myself :)

oh and I also sewed an (ugly) canvas apron for Jim LOL he has been using a wood lathe lately to make some varmit calls and has been getting wood shavings EVERYWHERE! I even added a little "she sews and scraps" sewing label on the front of the apron to, ya know, give it that special touch ;)

(yes that is the French Geneal quilt I am working on for Jim, he want's it BIG, so I have the fabric on order, but I guess he is finding a way to use it now LOL

anyways, I think that is it for now, hopefully I will have more time to sew, I really NEED to tidy up this pigstye, gross, disgusting  slightly unorganized craft room of mine to find a place for my new sewing machine, wish me luck!

boat pics, moments, UFO's, fabric and misc chatter

I don't know where the rest of last week and this week went so far! dang, November is already flying by!

whats new? hmmmm Jim bought a boat, used, but new to us

 
We took the boat out for a test run to see if it would sink how it would run. Well good news, it didn't sink :) but we realize it's just too small for us three to move around on

here are some pictures of our day out at Canyon Lake, I took my little old digital camera (in case the boat sank I didn't want to loose my Canon Rebel!) this explains the not so great pictures!

so now I guess we might be selling a boat and looking for something else?!! ;)

MOMENTS.... we all have them, real life happenings, maybe the house isn't always the cleanest etc, basically Moments is "a project dedicated to the idea that it's all the moments that make up a life—not just the pretty ones. Here is one of our moments (oh boy, I have  A LOT of pictures to share like this and others), this is from when we just got back from our hunting trip and everything always gets placed between the living room and dining room right behind a couch, it gets  a little scary sometimes but this is real life and this happens to my house daily.

 

Right now I have about 6 different calls for hunting on my table (hint hint Jim!) there is way too much laundry and clutter areas in my home (I do have plans for those areas!)

now onto UFO's, no not the kind up in the sky (if they exist) but Unfinished Objects, you know, all those sewing projects you have started and moved onto another without finishing the first? because we all have to have at least 9 ongoing projects at once?!! ;)  if you are interested in joining in, look at Tallgrass Prairie Studio to join in and be encouraging! Cross country, Hands of Joy and in the works projects

Zach had a cross country meet over in Chandler this past Saturday, he did good even though it was so stinkin hot!  I think we were at 106 this day! isn't it supposed to be fall? oh yea, not here in AZ!

Here are some sewing projects that are in the works that I will hopefully finish sometime soon, but I really want to take a free motion quilting class because I want to learn how to stipple some of my quilts, any tips from you quilters?

Typepad is being a pain and not letting me journal where I want to right now, but the top photo, is for the Wonky Block Quilt for the Quilt along that I am doing with my friend Dianne , the next photo is of a pinwheel quilt I am working on (very slow progress!) and the last photo is another quilt which was inspired by a project on Moda Bake Shop , of course I thought I would be clever and make it bigger, well I messed up on my measurements and lets just say that it's going to be a very expensive quilt! ha!

Last night I was invited by a new friend named Kathy to a "Hands of Joy" time at a local church, it was to show appreciation for American Sign Language, signing and singing and Deaf Awareness Week (which was last week) it was so beautiful! Both Zach and I just loved it, I can't wait till I am at that point to possibly interpret and sing Christian songs, both hymns and contempory using sign language. By the way I am LOVING my ASL class, I can't believe how much I am learning!

Oh and be prepared, I am almost done with a scrapbook page, yes you read that right, a scrapbook page, it's been forever!

new fabric!!!

Thanks to sewdeerlyloved's etsy shop I received this fabric in the mail today!
